KEBS Age Limit Update (Starts January 2026)
- From 1st January 2026, only Right-Hand Drive (RHD) vehicles registered from 2019 onwards will be allowed into Kenya.
- If the car was registered earlier than 2019 → it will not enter the country.
This means: Fresher cars Better quality Fewer inspection issues Less risk of rejection at Mombasa
Certificate of Roadworthiness (CoR) is Now Mandatory
Many older CoRs will expire on 31st Dec 2025. Any car without a valid CoR must undergo strict validation.
KEBS now requires:
- Logbook verification
- Export certificate verification
- Deregistration confirmation
- All validated through KEBS-approved inspectors like QISJ.
Translation? The car MUST be clean and legitimate. No shortcuts.
KRA Has Changed How Taxes Are Calculated (Effective July 2025)
KRA is now using a revised CRSP list that reflects the actual purchase cost of your car.
This means: More accurate taxes Fewer inflated valuations Easier cost prediction when budgeting
